One alternative to keeping highway congestion down and Georgia on the move is high speed ground transportation from Atlanta to Chattanooga. A study of this 110-mile corridor to determine a preferred alignment and potential vehicle technologies is underway.
The outcome of this study – a Tier 1 Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) – is intended to provide the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) , the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) with sufficient information to select a general alignment and general station locations. In addition, the document will identify vehicle technologies that should be considered further for providing high speed service between Atlanta and Chattanooga.
Input from the public is needed. Keep up to date with the project on this Web site, read project documents, newsletter updates, attend meetings, and send us your comments.
Upcoming Public Meetings
You are invited to attend a public information meeting to better understand the travel opportunities for the corridor, and provide your opinion on the potential high speed ground transportation alternatives to connect Atlanta to Chattanooga.
