Project Goals
During the course of this study, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and the rest of the project team have several goals to accomplish.
- Evaluate the Atlanta - Chattanooga corridor for possible implementation of HSGT. The evaluation will be performed at a conceptual level, and will include an analysis of potential alignments, ridership, cost, economic impacts and methods of project financing
- Identify characteristics of potential high speed technologies
- Encourage public participation and involvement in the project
- Select a preferred alignment for the proposed project
- Identify possible station locations
- Recommend potential project phases
- Evaluate potential environmental impacts of the system
